Directorate of Students Affairs organized a lecture on Traffic Awareness at University on June 17, 2010, with the aim to improve the knowledge of participants on traffic safety issues. Chief Traffic Officer, SSP, Dr. M. Akhtar Abbas was the chief guest on the occasion. He said it is necessary to educate the citizens about the traffic laws for maintaining the smooth flow of traffic on roads. He said traffic police had arranged several programmes for creating traffic awareness among public. He emphasized the need of strict adherence of traffic rules for the safety of life and requested the participants to propagate the message of Road Safety and Traffic Rules among the public. Dr. M. Azhar Naeem, Director Students Affairs of PMAS-AAUR, Inspector Abdul Aziz, In charge Education Wing of Traffic Police and Sub-Inspector Ms. Afifa Shumail also addressed the students, highlighting the importance of Road Safety and Traffic Rules and advised the youth to follow the traffic rules strictly in order to avoid road accidents. They also provided the information to the students about using helmets, mobile phones, seat belts, line, lane discipline, overtaking and action against violations and said that by following the traffic rules traffic accidents can remarkably be reduced and it would be helpful for the smooth traffic flow across the City.
