A three-day (March 29-31, 2017) Book Fair was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).
The Ambassador Netherlands Jeannette Seppen was the chief guest while PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad was guest of honor.
The Ambassador of Netherlands along with PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor inaugurated the book fair and inspected sections of the exhibition and collection of books displayed, which cover all fields. While visiting different book stalls the Ambassador said that such fairs have great significance and stressed to promote the book reading habit. The Ambassador also visited the Painting competition and appreciated the work of students.
Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad said that such healthy and positive activities are essential for curbing the trends of extremism in the society and University top priority is to provide maximum extra-curricular activities to the students. The basic purpose of the fair is not only to provide an opportunity to students and teachers to buy books of their interest at one place, but also to promote the book reading habit, he added.
A large number of students visited the book fair and bought books of their interest on Agriculture, natural, social, and management sciences, information technology and other topics. A large number of books from India, European and American authors were also available for sale.
The book fair has been organized by the PMAS-AAUR library, more than 25 well-known national booksellers are exhibiting their publications and around 30,000 books were displayed in the fair.
