Training workshop on "Techniques & Management of Artificial Insemination in Poultry"

A two days (January 18-19, 2018) training workshop- a joint venture of Academia & Industry on "Techniques & Management of Artificial Insemination in Poultry" Held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).


The workshop was organized by PMAS-AAUR Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (FVAS) in collaboration with Islamabad Poultry Farmers Academy (IPFA) and Jadeed Group of Companies, which was attended by 54 students of varsity, 16 members from industries and 08 faculty members.


The main objective of the workshop was to prepare the participants for the successful artificial insemination operation in broiler breeder industry. This training will also be helpful to covers the various techniques that can result in enhanced fertility, hatchability and chick yield at the older age under local farm environment.


PMAS-AAUR Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sarwat N. Mirza chaired the concluding session of workshop while Mian Jan Muhammad Javaid CEO Jadeed Group of Companies was the guest of honor and distributed certificates to the participants.


While addressing, PMAS-AAUR Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Sarwat N. Mirza said that youth must be equipped with quality education in order to compete with the modern era challenges. He said that quality education provides the pathway for solving the problems and urged the participants to learn to earn good name in their field to contribute to the economy of the country. He stressed the need to expand the research and technical knowledge to the farming community, industrial sector and institutions at every level for the desired outcomes. He applauds the efforts of Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences and Jadeed Group of Companies in the field of poultry sciences and hoped for the strong future collaborations and participation for the development and the promotion of the broiler breeder industries.


Mian Jan Muhammad Javaid acknowledged the PMAS-AAUR role in the development of poultry sector through its quality of education. He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr Arfan Yousaf Dean FVAS and his team for conducting the informative workshop. He hoped from participants to apply the gained knowledge from the training in their practical lives in order to lead the country towards prosperity. He also assured his every supports to the varsity and researchers for the boom of poultry farming.


The coordinators from PMAS-AAUR & JADEED Group of Companies Dr. Nasir Mukhtar, and Dr. Abdul Shakoor conducted the training workshop. In a two days training workshop, speakers delivered lectures on causes of low hatchability in broiler breeder, male management of natural mating, avian semen biology, artificial insemination in poultry, semen extender formulation and practical demonstration on semen collection and insemination.
