UIIT Organized Open House

University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) of Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized its 11th annual Open House on July 11, 2018.

 

The event was aimed to strengthen the linkage between industry & academia also to enrich the graduates' personal lives along with empowering their professional careers in order to build confidence and maximize their potential through provision of thought-provoking, energetic, compassionate environment.

 

More than 100 students of UIIT, including BSCS, MCS, MIT, and MS (CS) displayed more than 50 unique and innovative projects related to various fields of information technology and applications of IT in agriculture.

 

Industry professionals from 20 different software development companies attended open house and appreciated multiple projects. The mutual interactions of graduates with industry representatives not only influence their vision also accelerate an intense drive towards career enhancement and competition.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Dr Sarwat N Mirza appreciated the efforts of students for demonstration of their professional skills and said, "Information technology has changed our business paradigm and is the major contributor to mainstream the country's economy." He also said that the Open house provides students the platform not only to showcases their projects rather provides them the opportunity to interact with the industry to create the job opportunities as well."

 

He showed his immense pleasure for the most of the projects were based on the solutions addressing the needs of agriculture industry of Pakistan and said, "University use knowledge not only to help you learn, but also encourage you to be part of creating new knowledge by thinking and automating process in the proficient way."

 

Director UIIT, Prof. Dr Mubashir Riaz also gave a detailed briefing to the chief guest about the projects of the students. He ensured the need based, research oriented, solution based and innovative teaching-learning vibes to bridge the gap between theory and practices for addressing the societal demands and enhancing the professional capabilities of the graduates and thus enable them to play a pivotal role in nation building.

 

On the occasion, these companies' representatives took on spot interviews for jobs and hired students. At the end shields were distributed among the participants of open house.
