Inaugural Ceremony of Vocational Diploma Trainings under NAVTTC Training Program at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi

In order to build capacity of unemployed youth of Pakistan through various vocational skills, two vocational trainings i.e, Livestock Manager (6 months Hi-Tech Diploma course) and Bee Keeping Farm Manager (3 months Diploma course) are initiated at Pak Korea Capacity Building Center, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi under NAVTTC "Prime Ministers Hunarmand Pakistan" Program. These trainings are sponsored by NAVTTC Islamabad Regional Office. At the onset of these training courses, an inaugural ceremony was organized on July 07, 2021 at Pak-Korea Capacity Building Center (PKCBC), PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. Among the participants, 24 trainees for Honey Bee Farm Manager Course and 21 trainees for Livestock Manager Course from Punjab, KPK, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan participated the Event.

Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Chairman, Livestock Management Department introduced the objective of this event and conducted the event program. Welcome Address and Opening remarks for this ceremony were delivered by Dr. Ata ul Mohsin, Administrator, Pak Korea Capacity Building Center and Coordinator for NAVTTC Training Program at PMAS-AAUR. Prof. Dr. Fayyaz ul Hassan, Dean Faculty of Crops and Food Sciences shared his views about the importance of agricultural technology and agro-based cottage industry and vocational skills. Prof. Dr. Arfan Yousaf, Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences briefed the trainees about the importance of Livestock sector and he shared various trades/skills based on livestock sector. He urged trainees to learn the modern techniques in livestock management during this training to initiate and develop enterprises for a better livelihood. Dr. Muhammad Fiaz, Assistant Professor Livestock Management shared some information about the employability of the previous trainees in different organization and starting of their own Enterprises.

Mr. Ahmed Salman Mirza, Deputy Director NAVTTC Regional Office Islamabad also addressed the participants and apprised them about vocational skills enhancement program of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for unemployed youth. Mr. Chow, Deputy Country Director, KOICA office, Islamabad also shared KOICA's development initiatives in Pakistan and talked about role of vocational trainings in reducing unemployment and poverty.

Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Qamar uz Zaman in his speech advised the trainees to learn the skills in an effective and excellent way. He emphasized the participants of Prime Ministers Hunarmand Program of NAVTTC in enhancing vocational skills and entrepreneurial capabilities for an enhanced Employability of the poor youth. He also urged the management of PKCBC to work for some more vocational skills trainings for the youth. The Program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Asif Aziz, Additional Director, PKCBC, PMAS-AAUR.
