Training Workshop on Silage Making Practices

A hands-on training workshop on "Silage Making Practices and Preparation of Silage Based Total Mixed Ration for Animal Feeding during Fodder Scarcity Periods" was conducted on 14-15 September 2021 at the Research Farm (Koont) of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. The training was organized jointly by the Department of Livestock Production & Management, Department of Agronomy, and Ofice of Research Innovation and Commercialization.

The workshop aimed at training farmers of the Potohar region in small-scale silage, Wanda, and TMR preparation. More than fifty farmers got trained in different types of silage-making techniques and small-scale TMR and Wanda preparation.

Dr. Qamar emphasized on conducting hands-on training in a real sense rather than just delivering lectures or demonstrations only.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Arfan Yousaf, Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences welcomed the participants and assured them to train farmers as per the Vice Chancellor's vision.

Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, workshop organizer, and Chairman Department highlighted the aims and objectives of the workshop intending to overcome the animal feed scarcity challenge through silage making.
