Bait Bazi (Potery), Solo performance competitions and Food festival organized at the 4th day of Pothwar Art and Literature Festival here on Thursday at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).
On the 4th day of the festival, Rai Haider Ali Khan, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab was the chief guest. He also along with PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad inaugurated the food festival at University. Some 35 different stalls of Pakistani food, drinks, music, books, formal & casual dresses, Jewellery were main features of the Festival. About 15 stalls, offering a variety of food, also managed to pull big crowds while girls were keenly interested in stalls of palmistry. Stalls of barbeque, clothes and other household items were especially set up for girls.
Bait Bazi competition organised with an aim to promote the literary activity. All the teams completely immersed themselves with renowned poets of Urdu language and entertained the audience with their poetic phrases. The first position was won by Nida & Awais of Sciences Faculty. Waheed & Abdullah of Information Technology Institute got the second position, while Junaid Hassan Sheikh of Management Institute bagged the third position. In Solo performance M. Nadeem of Agriculture Faculty got first position.
Later, Rai Haider Ali Khan distributed shields and certificates among the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the significance of such competitions for the promotion of healthy activities among the students. He said that these competitions provide a platform to students, where they could demonstrate their skills. He encouraged the participants to move forward with the same enthusiasm and confidence in their professional lives. He also planted a tree in University presmises.
Earlier Vice Chancellor, in his address said that there is a need to promote such contests as part of extra-curricular activities. He said that such activities are a source of enlightenment for thinking and ideological approach of students. He appreciated the students’ selection of verses.
Faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. The audience highly appreciated the performance of the participants.
