Iqbal Day celebrations ended at PMAS-AAUR

Speakers stressed on the need of implementing the teachings of Allama Iqbal in our daily lives which is the solution to our problems. They emphasized the importance of thought provoking messages given in iqbal’s poetry and linked it with the present Pakistan. They discussed the Iqbal’s thoughts of strong faith, practical, Khudi, preservance and universal love as the ways to win through the tough times of life.

 

They stated this on a conference titled “Iqbal and present Pakistan” held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), on November 12, 2015, which was organized in connection with the second and last day of the celebration of Iqbal Day. Prominent among the speakers included Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Aftab Ahmad of Islamic International University and Mr. Ayub Sabir Famous Scholar of Iqbaliat. The seminar was largely attended by faculty members and students.

 

Addressing as chief guest, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad said that Dr Muhammed Iqbal was a great poet, thinker and philosopher who devoted his poetry for the renaissance of Islam whose concept later turned as the basis for the ideology of Pakistan. Vice Chancellor said the philosophy of Allama Iqbal is very clear as he always tried to awaken the nation through his lively poetry. Through his poetry he tried to free the Muslims' mind from the prevailing colonial mentality and own narrow self-interests, he added. He also highlighted the philosophy of Khudi of Dr. Iqbal and message which he gave to youth. He advised the students that they should seek direction from Allama Iqbal's message and follow it to achieve goals for which the country was created.

 

While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Aftab Ahmad and Mr. Ayub Sabir highlighted the life and achievements of great philosopher Allama Muhmmad Iqbal and the effective role which iqbal’s poetry played in the movement for Pakistan. They said that in his poetry Iqbal focused on love and described it a great power that brought one closer to Allah. They also stressed to raise the awareness in masses about the ideological thoughts of Allma Muhammad Iqbal as the solution to address pertinent questions concerning our national identity and issues of Muslim Ummah.

 

PMAS-AAUR, Office of Senior Tutor also organized Mushaira and Arfaana Kalaam competitions, in which students from various department participated. On this occasion, PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Deans, Directors, faculty members and a large number of students present. Students presented Mushaira and Arfanna Kalaam with full zeal to pay homage to Dr. Allama Muhmmad Iqbal and got big round of applause.

 

In Mushaira Ali Raza Sheerazi (student of sciences faculty) got 1st position, Zahid Abbasi (student of Africulture Faculty) grabbed 2nd  position, Nida Mughal and Sibghatullah (students of a Faculty of Crop and Food Sciences) got 3rd  positions.
