Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan has said that research is the essence of higher education and west is dominating the societies of the world only based on the research.

He stated this while addressing at the concluding session of the two days (August 26-27, 2016) National Seminar on “Promoting the Research Attitude in Pakistan” held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).

The seminar was organized by the PMAS-AAUR Institute of Management Sciences in collaboration with Creative Business and Social Research (CBSR) with an aim to provide an opportunity for research students, PhD. Scholars, and faculty members to get an insight of research papers writing and publishing techniques which will help them in their research endeavors.

Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan further said that research has been vital factor for individual or any nation and is being given prime importance all over the world. He said Pakistan is far behind in research and up till now has not been successful in developing & inspiring research culture. Pakistan can compete with international community if it has got state of the art technological methods, he added.  He coated the ibn-e-khaludoon concept of scientific method and proposed that history should be written in scientific method.  He stressed universities should be incentivized, young scholars may be encouraged. Furthermore, he wished Pakistan to reach such destiny so that nation may get rid of all social maladies.

Earlier, PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, in his address stressed upon the importance of research and emphasized the need for carrying out in-depth research for the benefit of human being. The Vice Chancellor shared significant investments of the University towards development of institutional facilities and human resource including faculty, introduction of new disciplines, improvement in research facilities and also shed light on provision of research facilities for students in University.

At a two days seminar, resource persons including Prof. Dr. Kashif ur Rehman Director Iqra Research Centre, Prof. Dr. Khalique Ahmed Director Mirpur University of Science & Technology AJ&K, Dr. Riaz Ahmed Assistant Professor Bahria University Islamabad, Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi Assistant Professor University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Mr. Fayaz A. Soomro and Dr. Farida Faisal Director UIMS delivered lectures and briefed the particpants about the participants that how one should be clear about the origin of his/her research. i.e ontology. Before selection of topic local needs should be assessed so that mismatching is avoided and extensive preliminary search is the important pillar. They educate the participants about the importance of all the variable in research and emphasis should not be only on Mediating variables. They also talked about Importance of measuring tools. How different tools helps in analysis and interpretation.
