Conference and Concluding Ceremony of PMAS-UAAR Joint Project with UC Davis California.

Two days 6-7 December 2016 Conference on ICT coupled with Concluding Ceremony of USAID funded project "ICT Use of Pakistani Girls in Rural Farming Households" was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. The project was aimed at enhancing the role of Information and Communication Technology in Agricultural Technology Transfer and Agricultural Productivity Improvement.  Professor Dr Rai Niaz Ahmed, VC PMAS UAAR, commended efforts of the project team and underscored importance of harnessing contemporary technologies in  agriculture extension services. Professor Dr Muhammad Azeem DG NARC encouraged young girls to play their role as technology ambassadors in Rural Farming household. Professor Dr mujeeb Sahari VC Sindh agriculture University graced the concluding ceremony as Chief Guest. He appreciated the project and stressed the importance of initiating such projects in other areas as well. Dr Aneela Afzal assistant professor of sociology led the project from PMAS Arid Agriculture University while Professor Dr Mark Bell Director international learning led it from University of California Davis.Telenor , E-  Pakistan and CIT were proud partners of the project. Telenor has been technology partner throughout the project while E-Pakistan and CIT will utilise the skills of these girls by making them Master Trainers to further strengthen ICT Use in Rural Farming Households.



Technical Session preceded the concluding ceremony in which ICT training was imparted to the young girls by Telenor.
E- Pakistan Conference on ICT focused on critical role played by ICT in different walks of life. E- Pakistan has been at the forefront of promoting ICT since 2009. Mr Ammar Jaffri introduced his characters Kisan Bibi and Kisan Chacha in the conference. Mr Saleem Saifullah khan former senator and federal minister for commerce presided the conference.
