The Oath Taking ceremony of the elected Executive Council of Soil Science Society of Pakistan was held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) on March 6, 2013. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest on the occasion and took oath from the elected council.

In his address, Prof.Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad congratulated new elected council and urged them to remain positive and productive in all their efforts and always think for the collective cause of the community. He hoped that this society might be one of the few well organized and disciplined societies of the country and work for the welfare of ultimate end users, the farming community. He further said that this society will lead the soil scientist’ community and engaged them in planning, academics, research, extension & filed activities. Dr. Niaz Ahmad also suggested the Executive Council of Society to arrange workshop/seminar in the University to address the issues of rain-fed soils and establish strong link between University research and farming community at gross-root level.

The newly elected executive council members who took oath included  Prof. Dr. Zahir Shah (President), Riaz Ahmad Ghumman, Dr. Mehrunisa Memon, Dr. S. Rasheed Ahmed, Nasir Rahim (Vice Presidents),  Dr. M.Tariq Siddique (General Secretary), Dr. Muhammad Sarwar (Joint Secretary), Dr. Shahid Javid (Treasurer), and Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Dr. Muhammad Nasim, Niazuddin Depar, Dr. Muhammad Sharif, Dr. Aqeela Shaheen (Councilors).
