A seminar under the theme of "Say No to Corruption" to celebrate the Anti-Corruption Day held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) on December 22, 2017.
The seminar was organized by Office of the Students Affairs with an aim to create awareness among the students for how to disburse corruption from our society through anti-corruption measures.
Speakers focused on character building to eliminate the effect of corruption from our society by narrating evidences from Islam and other social aspects such as Marsh Mallow Effects. They stressed the need of social justice, good governance, fair and equal distribution of resources and owing the responsibilities.
Col R-Shehzad Bhatti, Ex Director General NAB was the chief guest while Prof. Dr Sarwat N. Mirza was the guest of honor at the seminar. The seminar was attended by Deans, Directors, faculty members and a large number of students.
Col R-Shehzad Bhatti, while addressing stressed the need of integrity, equality and other moral values to earn a respectable life. He focused on the character building of students for the personality and social development. He was in view that the role of good governance is very much crucial to cope with corruption and said, "State must ensure every citizen the basic rights of life to eliminate poverty, right to thinks and express to cater with mind slavery and right to justice through enforcement of law, whereas; every individual must respect the law by ignoring the statuses or titles and own the property of country to make Pakistan more prosperous."
Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Dr Sarwat N. Mirza emphasized the students and faculty to implement the knowledge and groom the personalities through character building to be a role model in real lives and said, "Integrity and discipline are the keys to successful life." He urged the students to develop courage of social boycott for the elimination of corruption and to cater other evils from our society and said, "Change your attitude to change the society and conquer the world."
Earlier, Prof. Dr Khalid Saifullah Principal Officer Student Affairs department delivered the welcome note and briefed the purpose of organizing the seminar while Prof. Dr Abdul Saboor, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Prof. Ghulam Hussain Babar also addressed the participants.
A walk was also held at the campus to observe the Anti-Corruption Day.
