Independence Day celebrated at PMAS-AAUR by organizing a mega-plantation Drive, cake- cutting and Flag hoisting ceremony at its campus. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Registrar Mr. Aqeel Sultan, other administrative officers, heads of various faculties and departments, employees and children participated in the event. The ceremony began with a recitation of the Holy Quran. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman hoisted the national flag followed by the national anthem. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Zaman congratulated the univer-sity staff and students on celebr-ating Independence Day. He asked them to work hard for the progress of the university and the country. He urged them to stay united in order to meet all the challenges that are being faced by Pakistan. To celebrate Independence Day, a cake cutting ceremony was also held and a prayer was offered for the prosperity & solidarity of the country especially for Kashmir. Later, all students and faculty members along with the Vice chancellor moved to different locations of University to plant a tree. The University Green Office provided the plants and the Vice Chancellor planted a sapling, followed by the faculty, staff and students. Earlier, Vice Chancellor accom-panied by senior officials visited University Green Office Nursery. On the occasion, the Vice Chan-cellor distributed free of cost plants not only among the faculty members, students but also children and citizens of twin cities. The Vice Chancellor also urged citizens, faculty members and students to ensure conservation of each tree which they plant to promote forestation in keeping the environment clean and pleasant.
