PMAS-AAUR Celebrates 152nd World Ranking Position



Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University ranked at 152 positions by “QS World University Ranking” among Agriculture and Forestry universities of the world. To celebrate this achievement a full day program was organized by the university on 08th October 2013. The University Program started at 2.00pm from Faculty Seminars in different Faculties in which eminent scholar and scientist participate and give emphasis on the need of quality education and research in emerging fields to have bright future for motherland. Lately in the day efforts were appreciated by the audience. On arrival of The Chief Guest Mr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman Minister of State for Education, Training & Standards in Higher Education, Guest of Honor His Excellency Dr. Jong Hwan Song, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Prof. Dr Khaild Mehmood Khan Ex. Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR (S.I), Prof. Dr Iqrar A Khan Vice Chancellor of UAF, Prof. Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Khan Executive director HEC Pakistan tree Plantation ceremony took placed. In his Welcome Address Prof. Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR, The Chief Guest Mr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman Minister of State applauded the efforts of the university and students in their speeches. They appreciated the academician, scientists, think tanks and policy makers and especially the budding future laureates, who assembled to celebrate the magnificent celebrative festivity of Pir Mehr Ali Shah University Rawalpindi upon its standing at 152nd position in Agriculture and Forest Universities of the world. He thanked Vice Chancellor for inviting to share views on such an important day of the University’s history.

 

Prof. Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, PMAS-AAUR in his welcome address said that I am pleased to welcome you all here on this glorious celebration event of University’s 152nd position among the World Universities of Agriculture and Forest.

 

Vice chancellor said “I would like to place it for your information that this is a memorable moment in the history of Pakistan’s agriculture that I am trying to put all of public sector departments and wings related to agriculture together for developing a common vision for future agriculture in Pothwar region in particular and rain fed agriculture at large. I would suggest that this region be declared as a “Valley of Olives and Vegetables”.

 

Chief Guest Mr. Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman Minister of State for Education, Training & Standards in Higher Education, in his speech congratulates the Administration, Faculty, Researchers and Students of the University on this great day and said My heartiest congratulations are owed to those scientist and researchers who invisibly worked hard and put their efforts in labs and fields during their research experiments, which made this day to happen.

 

He said that “ I am glad to learn the vision of the University and the programs it has initiated for uplift of education system and innovative developments at the campus as well as at the Research Farm. I am very excited to learn Arid University’s efforts for rainwater harvesting at the campus as well as at their Research Farm.”

 

Guest of Honor His Excellency Dr. Jong Hwan Song, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, in his speech said that The Republic of Korea fully supports Pakistan, and Punjab’s aim of improving education.

 

He said “that Through our official aid agency, KOICA, Korea is establishing a Capacity Building Centre for Agriculture and Livestock Technology in the Arid Agriculture University which will bring great benefit to rural areas and improve the lives of farmers.”

 

After that Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan Vice Chaccellor UAF, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan Ex-Vicechancellor PMAS-AAUR, Prof. Dr. Muktar Ahmad Executive Director HEC appreciated and congratulation Faculty Administration and PMAS-AAUR Vice chancellor for securing 152nd  position in the world.
